The HBCU Power Awards was in full swing last night as celebrites, alumni, fans and GA natives kicked off their homecoming festivals. As co-host of the event comedian and actor Deon Cole kept the crowd laughing, while H.E.R had the entire audience singing along to her hit single “Focus“. The queen of #BlackGirlMagic Jada Pinket Smith was honored and made sure to remind us of the power and the responsibility we all have to manage it wisely.
Other honorees included Coltrane Curtis (founder, Team Epiphany), Kyle Hagler (president, Next Management), Nzinga Shaw (Chief Diversity Officer, Atlanta Hawks), Keinon Johnson (VP, Urban Promotions, Interscope Records), Phylicia Fant (SVP, Publicity, Warner Bros Records), Beverly Anderson (EVP, Cards & Retail Services, Wells Fargo) and Rob Rumley (Chair, Atlanta Housing Authority).
